One Piece Is Getting A New Video Game, But It’s Not What You Think

Earlier today, a new One Piece game was announced at the Nintendo Direct. But it’s not exactly what fans of the series would have had in mind. The most recent One Piece game, Odyssey was an RPG, while many of the previous ones were fighting games. This one is titled One Piece: Grand Gourmet, and it’s a cooking simulator?

There’s no fighting and no grand adventure in this one, the Straw Hat crew is put in charge of their very own restaurant on the ocean. It’s a complete restaurant simulator because you not only get to cook the dishes, but you get to make the menu and set prices too. Unlock more recipes by venturing out into the world to collect ingredients.

That seems fine and all, but what’s looking to be my early favorite things about the game is the restaurant customization and the One Piece references. You get to use the money you earn from selling food to completely reorganize everything about how the restaurant looks, but you even get to make the ship physically larger so that you can fit lots of patrons at once.

The game promises more than 400 characters in total from the One Piece franchise, which I think is insane. They’re all simple sprites and don’t do anything other than order food and eat, but I think that’s really cool to have all the characters in one game. Depending on the price, it might be worth picking up if you’re a fan of One Piece.

The game is being developer by Kairosoft, who made Game Dev Story and a bunch of other similar games for mobile devices. One Piece: Grand Gourmet will release on October 23rd, 2026, and will be available for Nintendo Switch and Switch 2, Steam, and mobile devices. You can watch the full trailer below.
