In the hours leading into a 10-minute Dragon Quest showcase, fans were hoping that Square Enix would offer a new glimpse into Dragon Quest XII: The Flames of Fate. They did, just not in the way people were expecting. In addition to announcing a Nintendo Switch 2 Edition of Dragon Quest XI S: Echoes of an Elusive Age – Definitive Edition, big updates on Dragon Quest XII and Dragon Quest Monsters were revealed.
The first is that the latest mainline entry is now called Dragon Quest XII: Beyond Dreams. No release date has been announced, but it’s been revealed that the game is being redeveloped from scratch due to multiple hurdles. While this will result in an even better finished product, it ultimately means that the game will incur additional delays.
The second update is that the Monsters sub series is receiving a brand-new installment in Dragon Quest Monsters – The Withered World. No release date has been revealed, but the game will launch on Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC, PS5, and XBox Series X.
