Last week I went to Boston for PAX East and had a blast. Every time I visit Boston, I only spend one or two days. But this was my sixth time visiting, so I’ve made lots of cool memories over the past decade. The city itself isn’t that big and there’s not much to do, but there’s so many chill places that give off amazing vibes. Because of this, Boston sits comfortably as my third most favorite city.

The main draw for me is the area around Boston Common. The park isn’t as big as some of the behemoths you’ll find in other cities like New York, but it’s still rather large and has a lot to do. It’s really fun to just walk around and the area just east of the park has a huge shopping district. There’s also a bunch of interesting and historical stuff near the park like Freedom Trail and the Massachusetts State House.

At the very westedt edge of the park is where Commonwealth Avenue begins. This is one of the most interesting streets in the city despite there being a busier commercial street a few blocks south. It’s a major street with lots of greenery and it’s just super chill to walk down. Near the western edge of the avenue is where Fenway Park is, and that’s always a fun place to visit.

The area south of Fenway also has a bunch of cool places including another large park and the Museum of Fine Arts. All these places are located within a stops of Boston Common by train. I also love walking down Summer Street from the park and across the bridge into South Boston. You have the Convention Center here and a small beach.

The city of Boston literally stretches for miles south, but I’ve never gone South of South Bay Center because there’s just too much to do in the city area. Sometimes I also like taking the train out of Boston and into Cambridge to visit CambridgeSide Mall.

My only problem with the city is that transportation could use some work. If you’re at South Station, your only train line is the Red line, and that just takes you into Greater Boston or Cambridge. This is great for exploring all of Boston, but not if you want to explore the main city. You have to take the Red Line first to the Yellow and Green lines if you really want to do anything in the city. Or walk the half mile or so to Boston Common.
