Most people who buy a Nintendo Switch or Switch 2 console stick to the standard joycons that come with the hardware. They do the job just fine, and most gamers are completely content with how they work and feel. Sometimes they might drift, but they tend to be reliable and easily replaceable with another pair. But there’s a whole aresnal of premium controllers that you can get your hands on to make your Switch 2 experience even better. Here’s a list of some of the best controllers you should be going after.
Switch 2 Pro Controller
The Switch 2 Pro Controller is a classic. The original Switch Pro Controller was already a great controller that felt great and worked very well. The Switch 2 Pro Controller is a huge improvement because the joysticks are smoother and quiter and the buttons feel great. It just feels very natural when holding, and has great battery life. It costs $89.99. But if you’re a collector, you can also snag the Resident Evil Requiem edition for an extra $10.
Advantage Wireless Controller for Nintendo Switch 2
This controller from PowerA is one of my favorites because it’s Pokemon themed. It’s not as durable or comfortable as the Pro Controller, but it’s great for Pokemon fans and collectors. The front features an amazing design that includes Lucario, Pikachu, and Mewtwo. The joysticks are a little rough feeling and a little rigid, but the controller works well. It’s also got a little weight to it. If you’re playing docked, this controller is still a huge improvement over using regular old joycons and costs $69.99. You can also find the controller on Amazon.
HORIPAD Turbo for Nintendo Switch 2
This is a cost efficient wired controller for the Switch 2 that features an ergonomic design, programmable rear buttons, and a turbo function that let’s you map continuous button presses automatically. The controller feels good and is fairly light weight. You can buy the black version from Amazon for $37.99, but you can also pick up a cheaper version from playasia.
Turtle Beach Rematch Wireless Controller
Just like with the PowerA controller, Turtle Beach goes all out with Nintendo themed designs. Their Invincible Mario design features a unique Mario design that glows in the dark as well as motion controls. You can also pick up a Donkey Kong themed controller or one that just features a sleek black design.
