If you’re like me, you’re terrible at drawing. I look at all these amazing creations people made on Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream using face paint and I get so jealous. The face paint tool basically allows you to make any fictional character you want or even some realistic ones, and add them to your game. But if you can’t draw, this tool isn’t going to be much use for you.
I thought it would be fine because I’d just import Miis that other people made into my game. But it turns out Nintendo won’t let you do that. You could do that in other games like Miitopia but not here. Fortunately there is a small workaround. It doesn’t give great results because it doesn’t use face paint at all, but at least it’s something.
I’ve been using Tomodachi Share for my designs. That’s everyone’s first pick for showcasing their insane designs, but there’s one underrated filter for those who can’t draw. You see, many of the designs that are posted have some insane level of detail because they use face paint. If you wanted to put those Miis into your game, you’d have to painstakingly recreate it yourself one pixel at a time.
But if you change the filter to show only designs that use no face paint and then sort by most likes, you can find detailed characters that use only the games default presets. Some don’t have instructions and some are labeled wrongly as no face paint, but you can find a lot of simple characters that look great and will only take a few minutes to make.
For example, I was able to pick out Makima from Chainsaw Man, Mob from Mob Psycho 100, Marcille from Dungeon Meshi, Yor from Spy X Family, and Frieren. They’re not completely detailed and accurate, but they’re a great start and there’s so many other characters that you can work with.
