Primogems are the most valuable currency in Genshin Impact, as they’re used to purchase Intertwined and Acquaint Fates for wishing on character and weapon banners. I started playing the game during the beta period back in 2020, and then right when the game first launched. So I had no idea what I was doing with my primogems, and ran out very quickly.
But as the game grew, more stuff that you wanted to use your primogems on were added. While it’s tempting to spend them as soon as you earn them, knowing the best ways to collect Primogems can help you save for the stuff that you really want now that there are so many options.
One of the easiest ways is by completing Daily Commissions. These short quests only take a few minutes each day and reward a steady supply of primogems once you’ve finished all four and claimed the bonus reward from Katheryne. Story quests, archon quests, hangout events, achievements, and limited-time events are also excellent sources of free primogems. They do take time and some effort, but every week you’ll earn yourself a decent bag of primogems.
Exploration is another great way to build up your primogem stash. Opening chests, activating teleport waypoints, unlocking Statues of the Seven, completing world quests, and collecting regional collectibles all provide primogems slowly throughout your playthrough. Of course, these are finite resources. Once you’ve collected all the resources in an area, that’s it. But collect as much as you can at the start. If you’ve ignored exploration in older regions, you may have hundreds or even thousands of primogems just sitting there. It will take some time though.
If you’re planning to play long-term, make sure to clear the Spiral Abyss and Imaginarium Theater whenever possible. Both offer recurring primogem rewards for completing their challenges. I rarely did this myself because I focused more on the exploration aspect than actually making sure I knew how to beat these things. Players who don’t mind spending a little money can also pick up the Blessing of the Welkin Moon, which provides Primogems every day for a month and is widely considered the best value purchase in the game.
