World Level is one of the systems that controls the difficulty and rewards of Genshin Impact’s open world. As your Adventure Rank increases, your World Level will rise. You reach World Level 1 at Adventure Rank 20 and World Level 9 when you’re all the way at Adventure Rank 58. Increasing the World Level causes enemies to become stronger while also improving the quality of the rewards you receive from defeating them.
Increasing your World Level is usually beneficial because higher levels provide better drops from enemies, bosses, and certain activities. You can earn higher-quality ascension materials, more Mora, and improved rewards, making it easier to continue strengthening your characters as you progress through the game.
However, a higher World Level also means enemies will have more health and deal more damage. If your characters are underleveled or your team is not properly built, you may find that bosses and exploration become much more difficult after increasing your World Level.
If you’re struggling after a World Level increase, focus on upgrading your main team’s character levels, weapons, talents, and artifacts. You can also lower your World Level temporarily once you reach certain Adventure Ranks, making difficult fights easier while you improve your characters.
For most players, increasing your World Level is worth doing because the improved rewards help your account grow faster. As long as you keep your main team upgraded and avoid spreading your resources too thin, higher World Levels will provide more benefits than drawbacks.
