If you’ve been playing Umamusume: Pretty Derby for more than a few days, you’ve probably already discovered the biggest problem in the game. Everything that you really want costs Carats and you never seem to have enough of them. Whether you’re trying to pull for a new trainee, grab support cards, or save for a future banner, Carats disappear incredibly fast. But thankfully, you can also earn them pretty quickly. Whether it’s free giveaways, story missions, or other tasks, there’s always an easy source of carats.
The most obvious and easiest source of carats is daily missions. This doesn’t offer a ton, but the daily missions are meant to be rather easy and don’t really require skill. Log in and complete them every day and you can get close to 500 carats every week. There’s also usually one or two special mission sets going on at any given time. These give a ton of rewards, and a few of them are for carats. These do require a little more work and patience though.
My favorite source of carats is doing Team Trials. This will require skill and a lot of patience because you need to build up a good team to increase your rank. Plus your rank changes just once per week. If you have. A good team and you wait a few weeks to increase your rank a few times, you can earn between 75 and 150 carats every week just for staying in your current rank.
Another great source of Carats comes from clearing careers with new trainees. Every time you complete a career and hit certain milestones, you’ll unlock rewards that can include carats. This means that even if a character isn’t considered top-tier, it can still be worth training them at least once for the rewards. Obviously you’ll need to spend carats to unlock new trainees, but building up a roster will help you earn even more carats in the long run.
Another easy way to earn carats is to view story events for each character. Every story you view will earn you 20 carats, so if you have a lot of trainees unlocked and you take the time to view all their stories, you can earn hundreds, if not thousands of carats at once. Technically you could just skip each story event and just collect the carats, but if you’re enjoying the game, you’ll want to see the stories.
If you’re in a good club, you can also get lots of carats every month. You can read a better guide on Clubs here. Only the best clubs will be getting the highest rewards, but if you’re in an average to good club, you can see anywhere from 150 to 1,200 carats every month just for being in the club.
There are also two ways to passively earn large amounts of carats just by playing the game normally. The first is through increasing your Archive level, which is pretty easy to do. You get 50 carats per level. The next passive way is by just existing. Players are constantly awarded free carats, even if they don’t log in. Occasionally you’ll be awarded with a Training Booster Giveaway, a monthly giveaway, or a gift pertaining to an IRL race.
Realistically, you can easily get more than 1,500 carats in a week for free just for playing an hour or two per day.
