The Switch Effect has been around for a long time. We recently celebrated our 9th anniversary and published nearly 2,000 articles during that time. I joined in September 2022 and took over in September 2023. During those two and a half years, I redesigned the site thrice, deleted over 2,000,000 comments to make the site faster, worked on contacts, and made it profitable. But after all these years, it’s time to say goodbye. We’ve got bigger things to do.

Being limited to one niche is obviously very restricting. We’re one of the larger Nintendo themed brands in terms of both daily activity and social media presence. But it’s still just Nintendo themed, and sometimes you have more to say. We tried fixing this by casually adding pages for steam deck games and Umamusume. Then we tried doing blog posts. But it’s time to move forward into their next era. Beginning today, the era of just Nintendo themed stuff is over. It’s still going to be a priority, but we’re going to officially focus on other gaming stuff as well as anime and manga stuff, movies, and other content too. It’s going to take a few weeks until everything is full running the way we want, but welcome to the all new Fandom Ledger.

We’re also moving away from the 5 point review scoring system. Originally it was 5 stars and then I changed it to be a point system out of 5. Now we’re changing it to the more common 10 point system to keep things consistent and for more score variety.
